Post on Recession Depression
The global Recession is the most significant factor in increasing Depression in the United States. There isn’t much
any of us ordinary folk can do about the recession, but it is well within the reach of us all to
do something about depression - if it is bedevilling you.
Most of us would probably never admit to the recession causing depression. We would probably put
it down to struggling to make ends meet; providing a sacrifice of those special treats that you
used to have and have an expectation that the world will wake up to itself and the day will be
brighter in the future.
The problem is that when you are in survival mode, any incident that puts pressure on the family -
either personal or involving - can be too much to bear.
Thus depression sets in.
That sense of not being able to cope with what is going on around you and your family. The
continued financial pressure to pay bills when there is only social security available, if you
have lost your job.
There is treatment available to minimise the onset of depression. These treatments vary in scope
approach and effect, but only your GP can give you guidance.
In terms of the financial squeeze, there are organisations that will offer to offset such things as mortgage payments.
But best of all is the support of your family. Pulling together does work, and the rewards are significant.
